Please join us, Thursday, May 4th for the L23K Exhibition Opening, in collaboration with FREE First Thursdays to view an exhibition of works from many of the country’s most significant artists, generously donated for our annual live and silent art auctions. With painting, sculpture, and photography spanning decades of practice, the exhibition includes a diverse selection of artworks by renowned artists such as Jean-Paul Riopelle, Shelley Adler, Ronald Bloore, Marman & Borins, Shary Boyle, David Burdeny, Douglas Coupland, Erica Eyres, Chitra Ganesh, John Hall, Marcia Harris, Robert Houle, Marie Lannoo, Michael Smith, Ron Moppett, Erik Olson, Anthony Redpath, Joseph Tisiga and Winnie Truong. The auction will be on display at the gallery from May 4 through June 3 to invite the community to view these amazing works and to provide the opportunity to place bids on auction items in advance of the L23K Gala on June 3rd.
The L23K art auction is sponsored by Heather Bala Edwards and supported by Ryan Green as auction chair. We are pleased to welcome back Brett Sherlock, Christie’s International Consultant, as auctioneer, who will help us find loving homes for the more than sixty works on display. L23K would not be possible without the extraordinary support of the artists and the many gallerists, sponsors, committee members, donors and collectors who recognize the value of arts and culture and the importance of philanthropy. All proceeds from the L23K art auction directly fund artists and the diverse programming on offer at Contemporary Calgary.
On FREE First Thursdays we invite you to explore our galleries, connect with Antyx Community Arts Hip-Hop Club, discover YYC/LRT Free Art Thursdays, enjoy thoughtfully crafted beverages by Sugar Water Bar, international cuisines by Healthy Baby and music by DJ Press Play.
This is an all-ages event.
